The Serbian government is currently working on a new bill that would provide government aid to refugees in Serbia. Statistics show that refugees and internally displaced persons make up almost 10% of the population. Many came to Serbia during the Balkan wars of the 1990s while still more came from Kosovo over the last fifteen years.
While years have gone by, many refugee families have had major difficulties finding housing, employment and other basics for life. Refugee centers that were opened in hotels, barracks or other temporary sites still house many families. For many, the future appears bleak - they cannot return to their homes and they have nowhere to go. Hopelessness abounds.
Pray for families who are refugees or internally displaced persons. Pray that for their basic needs to be met. Pray for believers who are reaching out to them, showing them that God loves them and cares for them. Pray for ministries among refugees, giving hope. Pray for many to be saved.
